Carnival is under way in St Lucia, adding vibrancy and a multitude of colours to this greenest of Caribbean islands. Parades are winding their way through the streets of the island’s towns and villages, and dozens of calypso, soca and steel bands are competing for the top prizes that will be awarded at the carnival’s climax over the weekend of July 18 and 19.
